Blog Post #120 – Fall Protection – Section 26.2 of the Construction Regulation 213/91- Second in Series

Aug 11th, 201133 Comments

26.2 (1) states,

“An employer shall ensure that a worker who may use a fall protection system is adequately trained in its use and given adequate oral and written instructions by a competent person.”

(2) states,

“The employer shall ensure that the person who provides the training and instruction referred to in subsection (1) prepares a written training and instruction record for each worker and signs the record.”

(3) states,

“The training and instruction record shall include the worker’s name and date on which training and instruction took place.”

(4) states,

“The employer shall make the training and instruction record for each worker available to an inspector on request.”

My opinion,

As a health and safety training company, HRS Group Inc. is committed to ensure that all their trainers understand competency under the ACT and are fully up on the current regulations.

HRS Group delivers the following material to the employer after training has been completed:

1) A large certificate (8.5” x 11”) as well as a wallet-sized laminated copy that can be easily made available for review for an MOL inspector.

2) We also deliver a group certificate (in a frame) detailing the entire class (if more than 1 employee attends training) with the names, dates and student certificate numbers, and finally

3) There is a letter, on company letterhead, that spells out the date of the training, who attended the training, the topics in the training, the standards, codes or guidelines used to develop the course, (including all regulations) and a re-certification date if one applies.

If you are a client of HRS Group, or plan to be, we also re-issue, free of charge, any lost or stolen certificates, no questions asked. It is our commitment to the workplace that we cover all the previous information. The employer does not need to be concerned with wrong dates, wrong spelling of names, missing certificates or any other safety-related concern. That belongs to our company as part of our service. We offer peace of mind, especially when one of our clients must deal with the MOL. It is better to be prepared than have to explain why the legislation listed above is not being adhered to. HRS Group Inc. will ensure that you are.
